If you're working on a research project, paper, or assignment and you're not sure where to start — or you're stuck somewhere in the middle — you're in the right place.

What I do

As a subject librarian, I specialize in the following areas:

  • Artificial Intelligence (AI)
  • Computer Science
  • Computer Game Design
  • Information Science and Technology
  • Bioinformatics

I can help you:

  • Understand your assignment and define a research topic
  • Find credible sources using library databases and tools
  • Learn how to evaluate and cite sources properly
  • Explore advanced research strategies and tools in your field

You don’t need to have a fully formed question or topic before meeting with me. I’m here to help you at any stage of the research process. If you're unsure whether I’m the right person to help, feel free to email me at hblackburn@unomaha.edu. I’ll either assist you directly or connect you with the right librarian.

What to expect during an appointment

Appointments are tailored to your needs. You can bring:

  • A copy of your assignment or syllabus (students)
  • Any research you’ve already done
  • Questions or challenges you’re facing

You’ll leave with practical strategies, recommended resources, and a clearer path forward.

Accessibility and flexibility

  • Zoom appointments are available with or without video/audio to support sensory-friendly and accessible experiences.
  • I provide appointment support online for your convenience. In-person consultations are available at Criss Library.
